Social Responsibility: As a global company and a responsible employer, REHAU is committed to causes beyond our own business activities.
Around the world, we champion ecological, economic, social and cultural concerns. Our goal is always to assume long-term social responsibility in a way that will bring lasting values.
Art: Without the support of foundations and from industry, many a stage for artistic activity would be smaller. On the other hand, by offering a new way of looking at ourselves and our surroundings, art supports the economy in its search for innovative ideas.
Jobst Wagner, president of the REHAU Group, on his relationship to art: “In principle, I feel that every entrepreneur should have some form of public commitment – be it political or cultural. My commitment is to art and artists. I feel enriched when I can offer my free time to the Bern Art Gallery Foundation and to thus contribute to the cultural life of Bern. Here, I make a distinction from cultural sponsorship which is always linked to some reciprocal service. I expect nothing in return for my personal commitment which is more like a form of patronage.”
Culture: REHAU supports cultural activities around the world. We are a sponsor of the world-famous Rachmaninov Trio in Moscow and the well-known Art Museum in Bern, Switzerland. Our U.K. headquarters boasts a world-class cultural program, and we contributed to the celebration of Erlangen, Germany's 1,000 year anniversary celebration by commissioning large steel pins depicting events in the city's history.
REHAU was also the primary sponsor for the 600th anniversary of the town of Viechtach in the Bavarian Forest. Through the Hochfranken corporate initiative, we support the International Film Festival in Hof, Germany, the second largest film venue in the country. And, each year, REHAU ART attracts thousands of visitors to a meeting point for dialog, art and history at our firm’s headquarters in Rehau, Germany.
Science and Research: Science is progress. For many years, we have offered the REHAU Prize for Economy and the REHAU Technology Prize to university graduates in Europe whose scientific theses address the economic aspects of international corporations, from marketing and information technology to technical and manufacturing processes. Around the world, we sponsor professional symposia and expert roundtables focused on science and technology. The REHAU Colloquium, for example, is a forum for well-known in-house and guest scientists to speak on future themes and trends of interest to polymer processing.
In North America, we are breaking new ground in sustainable building knowledge. REHAU, the Montana State University CRLab and an expanding team of experts have collaborated to build a sustainable home, optimize its systems and share cutting-edge research and technology with green building pioneers. The project aims to expand the industry's body of knowledge regarding environmental and human sustainability.
Social Needs: Throughout the world, REHAU mobilizes for social issues, be it monetary donations to aid organizations after natural catastrophes or in-kind donations such as window profiles for children’s homes and orphanages in Russia, for a children’s hospital in Kiev and for Romanian schools – REHAU works behind the scenes with its conviction for social projects and its support for those in need.
In addition, REHAU is also committed to a variety of social activities at the local level such as city anniversaries and regional cultural events. Our firm is among the founders of the Hochfranken corporate initiative, a partnership-like cooperation between several companies in support of their local region.
In North America, REHAU is a partner of Every Citizen Has Opportunities (ECHO), an organization based in Loudoun County, VA providing daily transportation, training and support for individuals with disabilities to work at local businesses, retail chains and government agencies.
