LEED Certified Project Features REHAU Tilt-Turn Windows

Located in Chicago’s revitalized Rogers Park neighborhood, The Morgan at Loyola Station is the cornerstone of a $400 million, 5.4-acre master-planned mixed-use redevelopment project on Loyola University Chicago’s Loyola Station property. This $54.5 million project features 152 residential apartments, 10 Loyola University Chicago-owned units and 33,000 sq ft (3,066 sq m) of retail space.

Residents of The Morgan enjoy a number of amenities that are the result of developer McCaffrey Interests’ achievement of LEED-NC certification, making it the first green mixed-use building in Rogers Park. These include use of sustainable construction materials and efficient utilities, an improved building envelope and maximized daylighting, a rooftop garden and convenient access to bike trails and public transportation.

To achieve the goals of a tighter building envelope and daylighting, certification, making it the first green mixed-use building in Rogers Park. These include use of sustainable construction materials and efficient utilities, an improved building envelope and maximized daylighting, a rooftop garden and convenient access to bike trails and public transportation.

REHAU System 4500 tilt-turn, hopper and fixed windows were installed throughout The Morgan’s residential units and common spaces. The windows were selected for their exceptional energy efficiency and sound abatement properties, as well as their improved cost effectiveness when compared to traditional aluminum. In addition, the modern and welcoming appearance of the vinyl profiles aligned well with The Morgan’s hip, friendly look and feel.

The System 4500 tilt-turn design allows the window to operate in either a tilt or turn position, offering three separate functions in one window: traditional casement look in the turn position, convenient top ventilation in the tilt position, and elegant picture window when closed. The System 4500 window and door design offers the ultimate in high performance. Its features include:

  • Compression seal sash with two weather seals
  • Multi-point locking hardware
  • Superior sound abatement properties
  • Ability to build awning and hopper styles with natural ventilation while providing security
  • Ability to reduce heat loss and noise filtration, providing a warmer, more comfortable living space
