In Germany, laser bonding for edgebands is patented by Bulthaup. However, REHAU has an agreement with Bulthaup ensuring that our customers can legally use the laser-bonded edgebands made by REHAU and sold under the “RAUKANTEX Pro” name.

Four technologies for invisible joints
Currently, invisible joints can be made using four different technologies: laser, hot air, NIR and plasma. All four can be used on RAUKANTEX plus and RAUKANTEX pro furniture edgebands.
This entails a laser beam activating the functional layer which melts and bonds permanently to the rough surface of the substrate. Laser technology is now used in many industrial applications.
In this procedure, compressed hot air melts the functional layer. Commercial customers and smaller fabricators value this technology as it is less expensive than the laser method.
