REHAU Window Solutions is systematically reducing greenhouse gas emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3. To achieve this, the All in One Partner combines a strong focus on energy efficiency with a structured renewable electricity strategy. Since 2025, all production facilities and major administrative sites worldwide have been supplied with 100% renewable electricity on a market-based accounting basis.
Erlangen, 23 July 2026 – REHAU Window Solutions continues to drive the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions across its operations. The company’s approach focuses on measurable efficiency improvements and the market-based transition to renewable electricity across virtually all locations. These activities are strategically embedded within a long-term decarbonisation roadmap designed to deliver continuous and measurable progress. In 2025, REHAU Window Solutions further strengthened its commitment by joining the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as part of the REHAU Group.
Understanding Scopes 1 and 2 in Practice
Scope 1 covers direct greenhouse gas emissions from sources owned or controlled by the company, such as on-site energy generation facilities and vehicle fleets. REHAU Window Solutions is already implementing a range of measures to reduce these emissions, including the utilisation of existing waste heat sources and the electrification of logistics processes.
Scope 2 refers to indirect emissions associated with purchased energy, including electricity, district heating and cooling. While this energy is generated externally, it is consumed within the company’s own operations. For businesses with industrial manufacturing processes and an international footprint, Scope 2 represents one of the most important levers for systematically reducing emissions and advancing decarbonisation objectives.
Energy Efficiency as the First Step
REHAU Window Solutions considers continuous improvements in energy efficiency to be the foundation of its decarbonisation strategy, helping to sustainably reduce overall energy demand. At the same time, the company is progressively expanding its use of renewable energy sources. Since 2025, REHAU Window Solutions has sourced renewable electricity on a market-based basis across virtually all of its operations:
This is achieved through a combination of green power agreements, on-site and off-site Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), and the retirement of Energy Attribute Certificates (EACs).
A Clear Strategic Roadmap
"Energy efficiency and a robust renewable electricity strategy are key pillars of our efforts to continuously reduce Scope 2 emissions and, on that basis, systematically lower greenhouse gas emissions across all scopes over the long term. This requires coordinated action both within our own operations and throughout upstream and downstream value chain activities. REHAU Window Solutions combines clearly defined measures and reliable frameworks with transparent documentation. Ultimately, all of this supports our commitment to helping our partners and customers make their businesses more sustainable, resilient and future-ready," says Frank Zimmermann, CTO of REHAU Window Solutions.
Decarbonisation is a core element of the sustainability strategy at REHAU Window Solutions. Alongside energy efficiency improvements and the increasing use of renewable energy, the company is leveraging additional drivers of change, including circular economy principles, recycling, innovative material solutions, and close collaboration with customers and partners across the entire value chain.
