Review of Interzum 2017:
REHAU draws overwhelmingly positive trade fair conclusion
69,000 visitors from 152 countries. The world's leading trade fair for the supplier indus-try in Cologne showed itself in top form this year and set a new visitor record. The good mood was also transferred to the exhibitors: "The trade fair event in Cologne was ex-tremely successful for us," says Matthias Haasler, Head of Surface Product Manage-ment and stand manager of the REHAU appearance at interzum. On the stand, which was arranged like a loft, REHAU displayed the full spectrum of the world of polymer materials. Visitors appeared particularly impressed with the innovations brought by REHAU: The glass laminate RAUVISIO crystal was represented with two new, trendy colours. For the acrylic laminate RAUVISIO brilliant, a highly scratch-resistant version was presented in addition to new colours. Furthermore, there was cause for celebra-tion: The innovative polymer mirror, RAUVISIO crystal mirror, won the coveted interzum award.
Outstanding feedback from the international visitors
"For REHAU, this edition of interzum finished with an outstanding result," Matthias Haasler says. "We were able to welcome more visitors to our stand than in the previous years." The number of visitors is one aspect here; what is at least as relevant is the structure of the guests. "Our indus-try is international. We are international. This aspect must be taken into account when planning for any trade fair. The fact that interzum in Cologne lives up to its role as a world-leading trade fair and is gaining global significance was evident this year and that is also what makes it unique for us."
On the 550-square-metre trade fair stand, REHAU provided a comprehensive insight into the world of polymer surfaces. The focus here was less on individual products and more on the diversity that can be achieved in interior design with the collection. The RAUVISIO surface ma-terials, RAUKANTEX edgeband materials, RAUVOLET tambour door systems and Acoustic Solutions combined to form room concepts for different living environments. "There is a trend, which is driving the interior design industry internationally – in the USA as well as in China and South America: individualism. Everyone wants to find his own personality reflected in his equipment. At interzum, we demonstrated how we can contribute to this with our solutions. This was met with huge interest and we received overwhelmingly positive feedback," Matthias Haasler states.
The further development in zero-joint edging was also particularly popular. "The zero joint is becoming more and more established in the edging of furniture," according to Matthias Haasler. "We not only demonstrated that through partnerships with decorative design manufacturers we can supply the right edge for any surface; we also proved that we can adapt to changes in pro-duction and develop zero joint quality for almost any application and materiality." Alongside the edgebands, the glass laminate RAUVISIO crystal mirror also made an impression: This ex-tremely flexible material, which is considerably lighter and less breakable than conventional mirror glass, was honoured at interzum by a prestigious expert jury with the interzum award: intelligent material & design 2017 "high product quality". The fact that REHAU also understands solutions for intelligent furniture was also a theme of the stand: In cooperation with two partners, REHAU has developed a height-adjustable conference table. This has an all-round, invisible profile, which can be used to control it from any place – a technical innovation that demonstrates again how forward-looking the developments from REHAU are.
