Helsinki Underground Railway

The northernmost underground in Europe

The Helsinki Metro is the northernmost underground system in Europe and the only one of its kind in Finland. It has one line with two branches, which connects the city center with the capital’s eastern districts. The network is currently 21.1 km in length and has 17 stations.

Construction work to extend the line to the west has been underway since 2009. The “Westmetro” is completely underground and will nearly double the total length of the network. It is set to open in 2017.

Our solutions

Around 25 km of cover profiles and 5,000 conductor rail carriers have been manufactured at our production facilities for the Helsinki Metro.
