REHAU, a leading systems and service provider for polymer-based solutions in the construction, automotive and industry launched its Windows Academy Room on the 17th of September in Bedfordview, Ekurhuleni.

The REHAU Windows Academy was conceived in order to improve the skills of the REHAU Authorised Partners' employees with respect to general uPVC window principles and technical know-how.  Authorised Partners purchase window profiles, in order to manufacture uPVC windows and doors. Their employees are given free training courses by REHAU and these range from a very basic course, to a 'Survey and Installation' course. REHAU also gives hands-on training at the fabricators' sites, on topics such as machinery operation and the creation of new business opportunities.

REHAU runs Academies worldwide; now it is South Africa's turn to offer an international standard of training. There is a desperate need for training and upskilling in South Africa, which REHAU has recognised and is fulfilling.  The transfer of knowledge and experience, gained over 30 years in the worldwide fenestration industry, will be invaluable to those attending.

The Academy is being launched together with the new REHAU uPVC window profile - Slim-Tec. The window profile is suitable for the affordable housing market and meets the demand for a low cost and energy efficient window system. With a growing lower and middle socio-economic segment, South Africa’s residential property market is witnessing a robust demand for affordable houses. This new window system offers a solid solution to the construction sector.

Although this system is more affordable, it still comes with the same level of quality and engineering expertise you would come to expect from REHAU.  There is very little maintenance involved (no painting, stripping, sanding etc), it reduces outside noise and reduces solar heat gain, providing the end user with a comfortable environment.

The environmental benefit of using uPVC windows is significant. uPVC windows are recognised as 'Green Windows', achieving higher environmental credentials, in comparison to traditional wood and metal windowsNot only are they good to look at and resistant to a forced entry, they have the ability to provide excellent thermal insulation, helping you save energy costs in offices, commercial centres and homes. This makes uPVC windows the perfect fit for architects, developers, interior decorators, builders and home owners.

REHAU has appointed a number of Authorised Partners throughout South Africa who manufacture uPVC windows and doors for residential and commercial applications to suit customer requirements.
