REHAU is proud to announce that RAUVISIO crystal^TM Mirror decorative reflective acrylic surface is among the 2019 winners in the Kitchen and Bath category of Architectural Record's best-products competition. Sixty-five winners were selected from hundreds of building products entries to the annual competition by an independent jury of designers and architects.

For applications that call for a large mirrored surface that's also durable, REHAU offers an alternative to the real thing. RAUVISIO crystal Mirror is composed of an acrylic (PMMA) clear top layer, a decorative mirror foil layer and a colored PMMA back layer laminated together using specially formulated PUR glue in a clean room environment to ensure optical-grade reflective quality and perfectly balanced panels. The material is resistant to scratching, UV light, warping, heat and humidity.

“RAUVISIO crystal mirror is a high-end decorative reflective surface that doesn’t break like traditional glass mirrors, making installation far more stress-free for the millwork trade,” said Jesse Collins, marketing manager with REHAU’s furniture solutions division. “Traditional glass mirrors can easily be damaged on job sites, or they can be damaged after installation in areas where breakage is more common, such as kid-friendly spaces.”

Prior to the launch of RAUVISIO crystal Mirror, there was no alternative mirror material available in the US market comparable to real mirrors in reflectivity. Due to their breakage risk, there are many occasions why real mirrors are either unsafe or very inconvenient for millwork shops, installers, building owners and occupants. Among the building types where real mirrors are especially unsafe are: behavioral schools, prisons, gyms and childcare centers.

For millwork and construction workers, it is much more convenient and cost-effective to work with a polymer surface that can be cut and drilled with normal woodworking tools.
