A collaboration between the NSW Government, the Sydney Local Health District, Royal Prince Alfred Hospital and the University of Sydney, the new Professor Marie Bashir Centre at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital is a purpose-built mental health facility named in honour of the former NSW Governor in recognition of her significant contribution to the mental health field.
Integrating many of Sydney’s mental health services under one roof, the six-storey centre includes a six-bed short stay unit; a ground floor assessment unit; physical therapies suite; a dedicated adolescent and youth services unit; acute adult inpatient services, including capacity to manage mothers and babies in a defined pod; a high dependency unit, as well as seven beds dedicated for the University of Sydney for translational research.
The purpose-built centre provides a contemporary, warm environment featuring: colourful wall murals of Sydney locations; a roof top therapy garden; and barbecue and break out areas for staff, patients and visitors.
RAUPIANO PLUS and RAUTITAN Platinum were both specified for installation. With 30% better sound insulation than a cast iron system, the superior acoustic properties of RAUTITAN PLUS enhances the calming environment that is crucial for a mental health facility.
REHAU RAUTITAN Platinum was used for the Hot and Cold Water Services. The RAUTITAN system is easier to use, faster and more economical, while delivering uncompromising security, hygiene and comfort.
