Helping future generations of the automotive industry.
Thinking and acting sustainably are important components of our everyday work. We assume responsibility and firmly believe in walking the walk when it comes to sustainability within our organization. Ecological, economical, social. As a partner for the automotive industry, we do our part to protect the environment and conserve natural resources.
We are making increased efforts on our journey toward energy-efficient, zero-emission and climate-neutral production. Our partners and suppliers play a big role in this effort, too. Find out more.
Our sustainability target
REHAU Automotive aims to be globally CO2-neutral in production by 2025. By 2030, each of our products will be emission-free.
How will we become CO2-neutral?
Andreas Pinkernelle, Sustainability Officer at REHAU Automotive:
“Reaching this ambitious target will be no easy feat. For us, it’s important to involve the entire process chain in our sustainability efforts. That means not just looking at emissions in our own production, logistics and administration. What do our suppliers and partners do? How do we incorporate their activities? You can’t overhaul a complete supply chain overnight. It takes time and a lot of work. But we’re on the right path.”
Energie.Effizienz.Gewinner 2020 winner
Our plant in Schwarzenbach am Wald, Germany, a site that produces air-duct systems for well-known vehicle brands, was awarded the Energie.Effizienz.Gewinner 2020 award for energy efficiency. Energy optimization at the site helps to save around 540,000 kilowatt hours per year. That is enough energy to power approx. 135 single-family homes for one year.
Recycling: The key to a closed-loop economy
It’s all about the circular economy. As the pioneer for sustainability, we are integrating CO2 neutrality and closed material cycles into our process landscape. What does this mean? We are using more and more recyclates in production. High-quality, recycled materials. This allows us to avoid waste and conserve resources. We build on the so-called closed-loop approach wherever possible. For example, we are currently using painted scrap from production to manufacture support components.
