About us

For more than 70 years, REHAU has been driven by the ambition to enhance the lives of people around the world by developing innovative polymer-based solutions that continue to redefine what is possible in construction, automotive and industry.

Upon the start of the company with just two employees in 1948, Helmut Wagner built the foundations for a business with competence, passion and technical curiosity at its core. By staying true to these principles, REHAU remains an independent, privately held company, employing about 20,000 people in more than 50 countries around the world – each of whom continues to redefine how the products our customers interact with enhance their personal and professional lives.

Perfecting our expertise since 1948

Originating from the leather industry in 1948, we began manufacturing shoe welts, garden hoses and automotive components. Since then, we have successfully replaced thousands of conventional materials in many applications with more efficient polymers.

Today, our expertise has expanded to include new polymer materials, recyclates, composite technologies, additive manufacturing, advanced processes and even incorporating electronics into polymer materials.
