This seminar tells the story of a demonstration house in Bozeman, MT, which integrates innovative building technologies and construction systems for the purpose of long-term research. 

Learning objectives:

  1. List the goals of the architect of this affordable near net-zero home;
  2. Recognize the role of the architect and project team leaders in coordinating the integrated design process (IDP);
  3. Describe the available sustainable building technologies such as ICF, SIP, CST, RH, RC, SIM TS and GSHP and how to integrate these technologies into residential construction;
  4. Articulate the current academic research project focusing on these technologies;
  5. Explain how the Home Energy Rating System (HERS) index recognizes the design of this near net-zero residence.
