LEESBURG, Va., August 20, 2016 – REHAU announces a five-year, $5 million expansion at its Cullman, Ala. plant as the result of new business recently awarded by a major appliance manufacturer.
The expansion will accommodate additional extrusion lines for the production of gaskets, and is projected to create 50 new jobs in the local area over the course of the five-year plan.

Speaking on behalf of REHAU at a local-level announcement on August 5, plant manager Maic von Thuelen, who is also project manager for the expansion, expressed his appreciation for the support of REHAU employees. “One person alone cannot launch a project like this,” von Thuelen said. “It takes a whole team.”
In attendance at the August 5 announcement were: Sen. Paul Bussman, R-Cullman; Hon. Max A. Townson, Mayor, City of Cullman; Ted Clem, director of business development, Alabama Department of Commerce; Cullman County Commissioner Kerry Watson; Peggy Smith, director, Cullman Economic Development Agency; and Dale Greer, assistant director, Cullman Economic Development Agency.
REHAU established its original plant in Cullman in 1995 as a Tier 1 supplier for the automotive industry in Alabama. Since that time, the site has undergone multiple expansions to include the 2003 addition of a PEX pipe manufacturing facility, the 2014 expansion of the automotive manufacturing facility and the 2015 addition of a technical center for automotive research and development. REHAU currently employs approximately 1,000 people at its Cullman location.
